Poets Who Open Doors

Woman Made Gallery Poetry Reading Series
recorded Sunday, 2018-03-18, 1:00 - 3:30 p.m.
at Woman Made Gallery, 2150 S Canalport, Chicago

event profile:

Becoming a poet is a lifelong process, a commitment, a vocation. Chicago is fortunate to have a concentration of editors, teachers, curators, and hosts who provide both the crucible to nurture and sustain a poet’s growth, as well as the springboard to launch them into orbit. A poet always remembers the thrill of her first publication, the craft lesson that made a difference, that shining moment they first took the stage. This reading is dedicated to the poets who provided the next rung, the shoulder to stand on, that gentle push in the right direction. This is for the poets who held the door open.

This event featured Parneshia Jones, Elizabeth Harper, Kelly Norman Ellis, and Maggie Queeney. It was curated by Nina Corwin.
