Poetry to Power

Woman Made Gallery Poetry Reading Series
recorded Sunday, 2014-10-05, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

event profile:

To speak truth to power is to tell what has happened with no apologies and no shame. For the poet, the challenge becomes how to make the hard stories into beauty and magic, how to connect the personal to the universal, how to turn truth into power. Join us for an afternoon reading of some of Chicago’s most powerful voices as they speak truth and invoke their own power.

Woman Made Gallery welcomes Executive Director and acclaimed poet, Sharmili Majmudar; Kresge Fellow and Executive Director of 'Obsidian Blues', Sherina Rodriguez; globally recognized video artist and poet Jessica Fenlon; and teaching artist and 'Write Bloody' publishing finalist Stephanie Lane Sutton. Hosted by HBO Def Poet and Surviving the Mic Founder Nikki Patin, with gallery poetry presenter Nina Corwin.
