Corwin has toured throughout the country from venues as close-by as the Green Mill and the Art Institute of Chicago, to humble literary salons in the Caribbean. LA's PLNews review comments, "Her poems are tightly bound, never straying too far off subject...they keep you right there with her on rollicking streams of consciousness ... as you drift into the world of her words, she slaps you back into reality with a quick jab of thought...her craft work is what makes Nina stand apart...she is truly a poet." She is the first prize winner of the 1999 Poets and Patrons competition, and has received grants from the Illinois Arts Council and Poets and Writers. She has performed with noteworthy artists as the late Gwendolyn Brooks, Kahil el Zabar, Fareed Haque and Maggie Brown. Corwin and Canadian composer Patricia Morehead premiered a wind quintet based on a collection of her poems, titled "Down Quicksand Alleys" for the 2001 Chicago Humanities Festival. Her poetry reflects concerns with social justice, victims of violence and "her fascination with the vagaries of human nature, mythology, ... and the myriad ways that people search for meaning or belonging in their lives... " A graduate of the University of Chicago, she currently resides in Chicago where she practices psychotherapy and has a national reputation for her work on behalf of victims of violence. She has an active in Chicago's poetry community as host of the popular "Word Gourmet," currently in residence at the Guild Complex. She has curated poetry readings for such events as the Chicago Labor and Arts Festival, Around the Coyote and the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
