an introduction to Lucy Anderton

in her own words

After a recent count I realized I have moved at least 40 times. This is to say that I am tired of moving, but that it will inevitably continue. I was born in the UK and raised in Western Europe and California, and, after graduating from Berkeley High School, I received a bachelor's degree in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music in Boston.

What followed was really a foray into the mouth of the world as I lived in Italy, toured Brazil as a hip hop dancer, did a year stint as a model in Paris and Morocco, and lived as an actor in Los Angeles before settling as much as I could in the great city Chicago. I have also been a janitor, teacher, boom operator, secretary, gardener, waitress and a personal assistant.

I have a husband. He is Nick Fox and, by all accounts, he is the greatest human being on the planet. I am wondering how I got so lucky. Perhaps we will make or adopt a person some day. Currently I split time between France and Chicago as the writer-in-residence for the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Auvillar.

I am a proud member of Poetry Slam, Inc. and my poems have appeared in The Iowa Review, American Letters & Commentary, and AGNI Online amongst others. For more info you can "visit" me at lucyanderton.com. Woo Hoo!!
